About this course
This course explains how a Pakistani investor can understand, evaluate and participate in an initial public offering. It distinguishes equity and debt offerings, fresh issues and offers for sale; explains the prospectus, book building and fixed-price methods; shows how eligible bidders and retail investors apply; and covers allocation, listing, post-listing monitoring and the principal risks. The course focuses mainly on equity IPOs and does not recommend any issuer or offering.
What you'll learn
- Explain public offerings, IPOs and secondary public offerings and distinguish equity from debt securities.
- Distinguish a fresh issue from an offer for sale and identify who receives the proceeds.
- Review a prospectus and locate the offer structure, use of proceeds, financial information, valuation, risks and application instructions.
- Explain fixed-price and book-building methods, including floor price, price band, bidding book and strike price.
- Follow the prescribed book-building or retail e-IPO application process and understand allocation, refund and credit of securities.
- Assess IPO-specific risks and monitor official disclosures and performance after listing.
