About this course
This foundation course explains how a Pakistani investor can evaluate, buy, hold and sell shares listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange responsibly. It follows the complete investment journey: understanding ownership and return; opening an account through a licensed securities broker; placing and executing an order on PSX; clearing through NCCPL; settlement of funds and securities; recording securities through CDC; reading market and company information; managing portfolio risk; and using investor-protection channels. It does not recommend any company, security or trading strategy.
What you'll learn
- Explain what an ordinary share represents and how shareholders may earn or lose money.
- Distinguish face value, market price, book value, market capitalisation and total return.
- Open and operate a trading relationship through a licensed securities broker and understand the related CDC and NCCPL records.
- Use limit and market orders carefully and explain bid, offer, spread, order book and price-time priority.
- Read a PSX quote, company announcement and selected financial ratios without treating any single metric as an investment decision.
- Apply basic diversification, risk-control and investor-protection practices.
